SUMMER PROJECT
For eight weeks over the summer we're working with two groups of young people on two very exciting projects.
Working alongside CITC, Rock Ferry, the young people will get the chance to work with Active Drama staff creating two new pieces of work.
The first is called THE BENCH and is an opera inspired by the people of Birkenhead
Park who sit on the benches around the park. The thirty minute production promises to be an unusual musical treat written entirely over this summer period. More details coming soon!

The second project is working alongside the team who are producing the pilot production of
THE BIRKENHEAD PARK MYSTERIES.
The young people will participate in this production alongside other local groups. This is a first for Birkenhead Park, and as a pilot we hope people will see how beautiful the park is as a backdrop to any performance. More details coming soon.

AUTUMN TOURS
BULLY IS BACK!!!
From Autumn 2010 Active Drama will be touring again! For over a decade Active Drama ran over 24 tours in Merseyside, Lancashire, Manchester, Derbyshire and Yorkshire, gaining a fantastic reputation with interactive musical dramas that engaged young people across the country. After a short break from touring we have decide to tour during the next academic year bringing back two of our most successful plays as well as a brand new one!
In Autumn, leading up to and during NATIONAL BULLY WEEK, we will tour BULLY, an interactive drama dealing with issues about and surrounding bullying in an unique and accessible way.
Bully is an enjoyable yet thought provoking show that should be taken anywhere and everywhere.
The Stage
EMMA
In Spring we will tour EMMA an hour-long interactive musical production dealing with the personal relationships of a group of teenagers, concentrating on issues surrounding HIV/AIDS and sexual health. It was originally developed as a forum theatre piece, commissioned by Wirral PSHE Inspectorate & Advisory Team as part of World AIDS Week 1999. Writer Brian McCann has since developed it into an interactive musical, using music, comedy and audience interaction with the characters to highlight the issues dealt with in the play in an innovative way. The show is suitable for ages 13-18
"The continuing increase in sexually transmitted infections and HIV is a serious problem and we need to do all we can to ensure that young people have the information they need to make appropriate lifestyle choices.
For the summer term we will be touring a brand new piece of theatre ONE NIGHT concentrating on attitudes towards drinking and drugs amongst young people. This fast moving musical will relay facts and figures during a tale that will amuse and shock.
